There old roads linking towns to villages are long gone in Basankusu. The most effective transport is by river boats. Due to scarcity of river boats, any enterprise owning one can charge any price they want. This makes transport and logistics the most expensive part of business operation in Basankusu and indeed a business deterrent.
To make our business operation profitable, we need to set up a transport and logistics project that provides us with a reliable and cost effective way of moving our products from our plantations to Kinshasa.
Currently, our production capacity does not warrant the need to invest in transport and logistics project. However as we expand, this project becomes a necessity. Hence we are planning to launch the transport and logistics project in 2024 to coincide with our production capacity of around 100 tones a year.
The purchase of a river boat and a tractor are invaluable in solving this transport and logistics nightmare. This requires an upfront investment of about 100000 dollars.
Our current operation production and sales does not return a profit to meet such an upfront investment. Finding this money is our biggest challenge in resolving this issue.
We are confident that in 2024, when our production increases we will be in a position to make such an upfront payment to launch out transport and logistic project. In the meantime, we are seeking for any investor who can join us to launch this project earlier than our planned date.
